Stephen
Bruton and I became friends on the very 1st Sandy Beaches
Cruise, I went on. I believe it was 1998.
I remember hearing him for the 1st time. I sat in the
audience, and was amazed by one great song after another.
I remember noticing how he made every line, in every
song count. The kind of songs that really make you feel
something.
Strong melodies and unique vocal delivery. Then, he
has the nerve to play incredible guitar as well. We
just kind of hit it off. We had some friends in common,
we talked about song writing, and stuff like that. We
decided we should try and write something together.
We
got together on a song at his house in Austin after
that cruise. We wrote "I Ain't Gonna Make That
Call", with I recorded on my "Guilty Of Love
CD. I also recorded Stephen's "Face Of Love",
witch turned out to be everyones favorite song on the
record.
Stephen recently made a special trip to S.F., to perform
at a benefit concert, for our friend and previous drummer
, Billy Lewis.
Big thanks to Delbert McClinton and Co., for all the
good people I've met since sailing on the SBC.
Check out my buddy, Stephen Bruton.
